Daniel Granger, Chair of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Québec, has received the Volunteer Award of Excellence in Philanthropy from the Association of Fundraising Professionals – AFP Québec for his commitment to Special Olympics Québec, which dates back to 1997.
For more than 25 years, Daniel Granger has devoted all his energy to helping athletes shine and improving the social inclusion of people with autism or intellectual disabilities. Each of his actions becomes a catalyst for change, enabling thousands of athletes to grow and flourish in an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment. His actions benefit families, volunteers, and partners, and his influence transforms individual commitment into collective momentum.
A visionary, Daniel has taken on major challenges: structuring funding, growing services, and increasing the organization’s reach. He has rallied the business and sports communities around the cause of Special Olympics Québec. He has succeeded in building lasting bridges between the business community and the mission of Special Olympics Québec, highlighting the talents and needs of athletes with autism or intellectual disabilities.
“Daniel Granger is undoubtedly Special Olympics Québec’s greatest ambassador. He promotes the cause in every forum and raises its profile in all spheres of society,” says Francine Gendron, the organization’s executive director. “Whether it’s political action, public events, or fundraising support. Daniel has invested countless hours and resources week after week for a quarter of a century for the benefit of the athletes.”
Present at every important milestone, Daniel is a mentor, builder, and tireless ambassador. His volunteer commitment extends far beyond formal meetings: through his concrete and consistent actions, he embodies a deep conviction that sport can transform lives and that every person, regardless of their challenges, deserves their rightful place in society.
Daniel also spearheaded the arrival of the National Winter Games in Québec City in 2008 and promoted the implementation of innovative programs such as Healthy Communities and Unified Sports™.
Daniel’s commitment extends beyond Special Olympics Québec. He served as president of the Société québécoise des professionnels en relations publiques (SQPRP) from 1998 to 2001, then as national president of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) from 2002 to 2003, in addition to being one of the founding members of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management.
