World games

The Special Olympics World Games take place every two years, alternating between winter and summer. The next Winter Games will be played in Turin, Italy in 2025.

2019 – Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates – 7,500 athletes
2015 – Los Angeles (California) in the United States – 7000 athletes
2011 – Athens in Greece – 7000 athletes
2007 – Shanghai in China – 7500 athletes
2003 – Dublin in Ireland – 6500 athletes

The last World Winter Games:

2023 – Kazan in Russia (cancelled)
2017 – Schladming, Graz and Ramsau in Austria – 3000 athletes
2013 – Pyeongchang in South Korea – 3200 athletes
2009 – Boise (Idaho) in the United States – 2000 athletes
2005 – Nagano in Japan – 1800 athletes
