Team Quebec is proud to announce that Olivier Martel (cross-country ski athlete) has been selected to pronounce the athletes’ oath in French during the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics Canada 2024 Winter Games which will have held in Calgary. Olivier is at his first National Winter Games in this discipline where he will participate in long distance events (2.5km, 5km & 7.5km).
Olivier Martel is one of the athlete ambassadors in Quebec and he has worked very hard to become a formidable speaker. After having been one of the two athlete spokespersons during the Special Olympics Quebec 2023 Winter Games in Saguenay, it will be a great challenge for him to take the athletes’ oath in front of the whole country.
We are also proud to announce that David Winter (indoor hockey athlete) was selected to carry the flag of the Quebec delegation during this same ceremony. David has participated in several National Games, either with his indoor hockey team or as a player drafted by another team as is the case this year. Which makes David a highly appreciated and respected athlete by his peers. He is a person who stands out for his team spirit.
Finally, Jonathan Lévesque will be an indoor hockey official during the Calgary Games and he will take the French version of the officials’ oath during the opening ceremony.
Olivier, David, Jonathan, the entire Special Olympics Quebec community congratulates you!
