MP Madeleine Chenette attends Stage 1 swimming competition in Blainville

Saturday saw the first stage of the swimming competition take place in Blainville, with 146 athletes from 18 clubs taking part. Despite overnight snowfall and difficult road conditions, teams came from the Outaouais, Quebec City, Lac St-Louis, the Laurentians, Chaudière-Appalaches, Richelieu-Yamaska, Lanaudière, Montreal, Sud-Ouest, Rive-Sud, and Laval to take part in the competition.

Mrs Madeleine Chenette, Liberal Member of Parliament for Thérèse-De Blainville, came to greet the athletes and spectators. An active person herself, she paid tribute to the athletes. Madame Chenette stayed for a few hours to watch the competitions, chat with some of the athletes, and pose for a photo with Leo Soudin, a keen sportsman and politics enthusiast.

By attending this competition, Ms. Chenette reiterates her support for Special Olympics Québec activities in Thérèse-de-Blainville and the greater Laurentians region. We thank her for her unwavering support.

In collaboration with the Laurentian Regional Recreation Association for People with Disabilities, this competition received the support of dozens of volunteers, including officials from the Quebec Swimming Federation.

All athletes will soon have the opportunity to come together to participate in Stage 2 of swimming, which will take place at McGill University as part of the Grand rendez-vous unifié on 28 March.
