The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Golf Tournament Was a Huge Success!

On September 10, the Belle Vue Golf Club in Léry hosted the very first edition of the golf tournament organized by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to benefit Special Olympics Québec. Having been committed for many years to supporting athletes with autism or intellectual disabilities through the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the RCMP chose this year to launch and lead this new fundraising initiative. Thanks to the dedication of Mr. Nelson Lévesque, Superintendent and member of the Law Enforcement Torch Run committee, the strong leadership of Mr. Nicolas Morisset, Sergeant, and the invaluable support of Mr. Éric Boudreault, Superintendent, this inaugural event was a resounding success.

The event was sold out, bringing together 144 golfers on the course. Despite a strong wind, the sun was shining! The teams teed off for an 18-hole round, enjoying the various activities set up along the course, which added to the day’s festive atmosphere. Beyond the golf, this day was above all an opportunity to come together in a friendly atmosphere around a common cause: promoting inclusion and supporting Special Olympics Québec athletes. Participants also had the privilege of meeting Maude and Olivier, two athletes who had just returned from the National Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta. They shared their experiences as athletes and led an activity at the 10th hole, creating a wonderful moment of connection and interaction with the golfers.

The day concluded with a warm and welcoming dinner, during which Mr. Martin Roach, Commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s Quebec C Division, spoke to celebrate the event and highlight the organizers’ outstanding work. And what a way to wrap up this first edition: $11,994 was raised for Special Olympics Québec! This result exceeded the initial goal of $10,000 and is a testament to the generosity and commitment of everyone who helped make this day a success.
