February 28: Special Olympics Calgary 2024 Winter Games

The Games have started and all the athletes are happy to come together to compete.

On February 28, Quebec ranks 3rd in medals with 15, including 4 gold.

In alpine skiing, Tommy Lavergne finished 2nd in the advanced giant slalom while Jessica Larrivee won bronze in the intermediate giant slalom.

Cross-country skiing: Camille Ferland and Samuel Bélisle both won bronze in the 5 km.

Several athletes compete with snowshoes. Rachelle Parent, Meghan Condie, Emily Balycky, Christopher Leblanc, Raphaël St-Hilaire participate in the 100 meters. Christopher and Rafael win gold. Rachel and Emily win silver and Meghan runs away with bronze. In the 800 meters, Audrey Larose-Rapin won silver while Olivier Séguin took the first step of the podium.

Figure skating – Dance level 1: Léa-Roxan Bourque wins gold, Emmanuel Loutfallah leaves with the silver medal while Camille Provencher takes bronze. Dance level 3, Stéphanie Lachance runs away with the money.

Note that many parents made the trip to witness the athletes’ performances.
